Andrew Guccia

Andrew Guccia, 95 of Endicott, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2021. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Grecko) Guccia; his second wife, Marie (Caforio) Guccia; his daughter, Vicki Adamek; his parents, Bartolo and Vita Guccia; his sisters, Genevieve (Ted) Giuffrida and Frances Guccia; his brothers, Joseph (Ida) Guccia and Jim Guccia. He is survived by his son, Bart (Francene) Guccia; his grandchildren, Sarah, Andrea and Lindsey Guccia, Jennifer (Chris) Mayer; his great-grandchildren, Andre Guccia, Gianna Balanda and Owen Mayer; his sisters-in-law, Adalene Caforio, Carolann (Louis) Kubisa; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Andrew graduated from Union-Endicott High School where he played football and was captain of the team his senior year. He was in track, he ran the mile, where he earned 2nd place in the state invitational in 1942 and 1943. After graduation he played semi-pro football for the Northside Social Club, until he joined the Army. He fought in both France and Germany with the Field Artillery Battalion as a Corporal. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was employed at Endicott Johnson, Roma’s Market and eventually retired from IBM Endicott. He loved to bowl, golf, play poker and tend to his garden. He enjoyed his Tuesday night dinners at the Broadway Diner with his best friends, Mike Fitzgerald and Joe Bevelacqua. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a devoted patriarch to his family and would  assist or take care of any need. He loved to celebrate all holidays with his family.  He lived a full life of 95 years and will be greatly missed. We love you Big Papa. 

The family would like to thank the staff of UHS Ideal for the outstanding care that he received while in their care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers,  expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Anthony’s Food Pantry 906 Jenkins St. Endicott, NY 13760.
