Mary Elizabeth (Soucy) Ferencik, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Grace Soucy; her brothers, Leonard (Leona) Soucy and Robert Soucy; her brother-in-law, Henry Benway, Sr.; her nephews, Robert and Henry Benway, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward Ferencik; eight children, Frank Ferencik, John (Julia) Ferencik, Edward, Jr. (Laurie) Ferencik, Mary (Gene) Perry, Susan (Curtis) Parvin, Patti (Tony) Maione, Timothy Ferencik, Theresa (Doug) Pelton; sixteen grandchildren, Laura (Derek) Cordilione, Dan (Bridget) Ferencik, David (Samantha) Ferencik, Emily Ferencik, Brittany Ferencik, Ed, Jr. (Reana) Ferencik, Robert Ferencik, Thomas Ferencik, Christopher (Courtney) Perry, Elizabeth (Vinny) Pardi, Courtney (David) Yost, Jacob (Leah) Parvin, Chelsea (Dennis) Moore, Anthony, Jr. (Katie) Maione, Nicholas Maione, Vince Maione; twenty great-grandchildren; her sister, Grace Benway; her sister-in-law, Joan Soucy; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was an extraordinary homemaker who raised her family with a constant presence and dependability. She met life’s challenges with strength, courage and grace. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved baking and was very generous with her delicious treats. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and was a woman of unwavering faith. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Endicott. The family expresses a sincere thank you to the staff of James G. Johnston Nursing Home for the loving care and compassion that Mary received over the past few years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church 207 Hayes Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. There will be NO calling hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to either, St. Joseph’s Church or Mercy House 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
