Joseph E. Mayes, born March 30, 1944, passed away on November 30th, 2022, rejoining his parents Albert and Sophia Mayes (Serefin) and his brother David Mayes. Joe graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1962 and Broome Community College in 1965.
Joe lived most of his life in Endicott, NY and was employed by IBM for most of his career. Joe lived in Colorado for 18 years and spent his remaining years in Owego, NY.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Callaghan), his sons Michael and Jeremy, his daughter-in-law Jessica (Perone), his grandchildren, Mark, Joey, Ever, and Marley, and his cherished dog, Banjo.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a creator, a fixer, a tinkerer, an engineer, an artist, and a craftsman, with an endless passion for woodworking, electronics, computers, and 3D printing. His natural curiosity was contagious, and he loved to talk about life’s biggest questions.
The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc 1905 Watson Boulevard Endicott, NY on Monday December 5, 2022, from 5-7PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday December 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Church 203 Washington Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
