Dorothy A. Humphrey

Dorothy A. Humphrey, 85, of East Syracuse, formerly of Binghamton, passed away Friday September 23, on the same day as the 61st anniversary of her marriage to her beloved and departed husband Jack, joining him in eternity.

She is lovingly survived by her son Todd, daughter-in-law Kristina, granddaughter Emily, and sister Ann. She is also remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

The youngest of nine siblings, Dottie grew up in the First Ward of Binghamton during the Great Depression and WWIl era, attending Daniel S. After working in the retail, home decorating, and insurance trades, she dedicated her life to her family and home. Her many interests included reading, holiday decorating and entertaining, writing long letters, cool autumn days, gardening, watching the Tour de France, jazz and music standards from the Great American Songbook. She was known for having a wicked sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling, especially to casino towns, taking many journeys to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with family, friends, and tour groups. Her greatest joy was being "Dancing Grandma," spending time with "my Emily."
