Santa Barbara (Vivona) Capodaglio

Santa Barbara (Vivona) Capodaglio, 80, of Johnson City, NY, left this world Thursday, September 28th, 2023, peacefully at home with her family around her. Ahead of her were parents, Rosario Sr. & Eulanda Vivona of Endicott, her big sister, Antoinette Giammichele, her beloved twin brother, Ross Michael Jr., her most special baby sister Geraldine, and Al's beloved grandson, Joe Capodaglio. She is survived by her brother Jack (Pinhkeo) of MD. Barbara is going to be dearly missed by her devoted husband of nearly 37 years, Alfred Capodaglio, and her loving daughter Patricia (Dan) Maslar of Vestal, and their children, Santa Barbara & Troy. Also her sister-in-law Cathy Vivona of IL, Al’s grandchildren Nina & Vito Capodaglio of Vestal, cousins and dear friends. Santa Barbara graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, and cherished her years with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. She had careers in teaching, IBM, and eventually became the Director of the NYS Impaired Driver Program at SUNY Broome for 11 years. Even with her decades-long battles with cancer, she continued to work, and knew she had a blessed life, enjoying many activities such as walking, driving, shopping, reading, classic cars, movies, learning, and her independence. She energetically loved the people and pets in her life and would help anyone and everyone she could to have a better life. Al & Patti would like to thank Lourdes Hospice for all of the wonderful care and support they provided. Barbara was excited that a vaccine is in development for her family’s inherited disorder, Lynch Syndrome, and hopes it will help her family and the 1.1 million citizens with the condition. Please consider donations to cancer research and animal shelters in honor of Santa Barbara’s memory.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday October 7th at St. Vincent de Paul Church 465 Clubhouse Rd. Vestal, NY at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
