Thomas Micalizzi, 62 of Newark Valley, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 6 2024, surrounded by his family at home after a long and courageous 7 ½ year private battle with colon cancer. Tom was born on April 8 1962 in Johnson City NY. He graduated from Johnson City High School and SUNY Cobleskill. He retired from Broome Developmental Center after 34 ½ years of service. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Pauline Micalizzi, father in law and mother in law Melvin & Ellen Abbott, brother in law Bobby Abbott, several aunts, uncles, and a cousin. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Kim (Abbott) Micalizzi, his children and their spouses, Lauren Micalizzi & Cyrus Homer, Justin & Jennifer Micalizzi, Shawn Micalizzi & Deanna Sanyshyn, two grandchildren, Dawson & Dalton Homer, his faithful companions Cooper & Elliott, two sisters, Karen Micalizzi & Christine Ciza, several nieces, nephews, in laws, and extended family members. Tom was a very avid sports fan, especially for the Green Bay Packers & New York Yankees. He attended his childrens many sporting events, as well as his grandchildren's extra curricular activities. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, baseball, football, and attending Binghamton University Men's Basketball games. Tom was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend to many who will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Broome Oncology LLC, Guthrie Sayre Hospital, and Guthrie Lourdes Hospital, specifically Dr Michael Barrett for the compassionate care received during Tom’s time of need. To honor Tom’s wishes, no service will be held, and he will be cremated with his ashes resting in Emerald Isle, NC as requested.
