Margaret "Peggy" Vasilchik

Margaret "Peggy" Vasilchik, 85, passed away peacefully and at long last had an ecstatic reunion in Heaven with her past family and friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She moved on to eternal life in the same hospital she was born, Charles S. Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, N.Y., after a long illness.

Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dorothy (Woodworth) Lockwood of Binghamton, NY, brother and sister-in-law James S. (Jeanette) Lockwood of Vestal, NY, sister and brother-in-law Geri (Jim) Eaton, of Citrus Heights, CA, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred (Ria) Vasilchik of Wilmington, DE.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John E. Vasilchik of Endwell, NY, Eric S. (Vanessa) Vasilchik, of Parkville, MD, Phillip J. (Kristie) Vasilchik of Westerly, RI, brother and sister-in-law Harry (Sheila) Lockwood, of Rochester, NY, grandsons John Luis and Antonio Vasilchik of Parkville, MD, Nelson Vasilchik and step-granddaughter Mikaela Woll of Westerly, RI, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Arlene (Jim) Colegrove of Endwell, NY, and brother-in-law, David Roberts, of Vestal, NY, plus many loving nephews and nieces.

She was employed at NY Telephone, AT&T, and retired from Broome-Tioga BOCES in 2004, and began to travel back and forth to Rhode Island and Maryland because she took great delight in her grandchildren. She loved being near the Ocean and her and John frequented Ocean City, MD, each summer for family vacations and loved the smell of the ocean air at sunrise each day. She also loved playing cards "pitch" at American Legion Post #1700, in Endicott, NY, and having a Guinness with dinner from time to time. She also had a love of Dobermans and her favorite dog, "Molly."

Her family was her delight in this lifetime and phone calls and visits from out of town family would "light the room" for her with great joy!

Our family would like to thank the generous, caring, and compassionate staff at Charles S. Wilson Memorial Hospital's Palliative Medicine Care Team for the assistance and support during Peggy's affliction.

A private viewing and Celebration of Life was held with immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, all donations may be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
