She was born in Binghamton, NY on November 5, 1926, the daughter of Rudolph Hrazdil and Alžbeta (Čarsky) Hrazdil. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her devoted and loving husband of 45 years, Walter A. Novak, and by her son, Walter S. Novak.

A life-long resident of the triple cities and the daughter of two hard-working Endicott-Johnson factory employees who immigrated from Slovakia, Louise never took anything for granted and was kind and gracious to everyone she met. She regarded family and friends with the highest importance, always willing to drop everything to help out family, friends, and her church. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Church in Endicott, a member of the Catholic Daughters, and worked for years assisting the Sisters to sew the habits they wore. Louise prayed the Rosary daily, and kept a list of family, friends, and neighbors who she included in her prayers.
She retired from the guidance office at Jennie F. Snapp middle school in 1984, where she worked as a secretary. Louise was an accomplished pianist, seamstress, and an incredible cook. In her retirement she would frequently be seated at her piano, filling her house with music. Louise and Walter spent many wonderful summers at their cottage on Crescent Lake. When not at the piano or the lake, she was sewing intricate quilts or crocheting afghans, which were then given out as gifts to family and friends.
