Francis Pilarcek, 73, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Margaret Pilarcek. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana (Hoffstadt) Pilarcek; three sons, Jeff (Dana) Pilarcek, Greg Pilarcek, Ryan Pilarcek; two grandchildren, Zachary and Jessie Pilarcek; two brothers, Bob (Barbara) Pilarcek, Steve (Elaine) Pilarcek; his brother-in-law, Fred (Nancy) Hoffstadt; also several nieces and nephews.

Fran graduated from Union Endicott High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. In 2015 Fran was inducted into the Union Endicott High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended Oklahoma A & M and the University of Texas-El Paso on a football scholarship. After attending college, he signed a free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints. He carried a PGA card at various golf courses and was a former head pro at Hancock Golf Course. Fran owned and operated two bars/restaurants in the area, Franny’s and the 4thQuarter. Later in life, Fran could be spotted tending bar at other local establishments. Fran enjoyed playing golf, watching his grandchildren at their sporting events, and rooting for the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. In 2009, Fran suffered a major stroke that left him paralyzed on the right side of his body. This caused him many challenges, but he was always positive and had a smile on his face. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers that helped make Fran’s final years comfortable. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2nd at 2:00 PM at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY with the Rev. Clarence F. Rumble, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a limited number of guests allowed at one time. This will cause some guests to have to wait in line outside before entering. Keeping this in mind, please respectfully limit the time of your visit. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Fran’s memory may be made to the Animal Care Council 131 Washington Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
