Irene M Cerra (Rene) of Endwell NY was called to heaven on Friday, September 17, ten days short of her 87th birthday. She is now resting in the arms of the Lord and united with her husband, Patrick Sr., and two sons, John and Anthony, and all the deceased family members that have joined the ranks of the angels before her.
She is survived by her son Michael, Endwell NY, son Patrick (Sharon), Johnson City NY, son Joseph (Karen), Amherst NH. Grandchildren; Michael, Nicholas, Jon, Morgan, Carleigh, Christie, Anthony, Vincent, Brendan, Taryn, Joseph, and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Anna Lally, Archibald PA, sister-in-law Jean Gerchman, Bethlehem PA. Her confidant and niece Jody Wilbur, Vestal NY. Her longtime neighbor and friend, Bonnie Pewterbaugh, and her almost son, Peter (Cindy) Fiorini. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention.
She was a fabulous cook and owned and operated VIP catering for many years after a career of managing Schuster’s Big M’s delicatessens. She was a primary caregiver to her disabled son and cared for her brother, and Father-in-law who lived with the family at times. She also cared for her husband during his end-of-life illness. Rene was a former member of Christ the King Church and a current member of the Church of the Holy Family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Family 3600 Phyllis St. Endwell, NY 13760. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to either Mercy House 212 N. McKinley Ave. Endicott, NY 13760 or Meals on Wheels of Western Broome 705 W. Main St. #4 Endicott, NY 13760.
