Josephine (Matolka) Kintner

Josephine (Matolka) Kintner, 91 of Vestal, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday September 5, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the oldest of ten children born to the late John and Mary Matolka. She was also predeceased by two sons Paul K. and Mark G. Kintner; her grandson Turner K. Schuetz; her brothers John and Bob Matolka; her sisters Mary Smith, Julie Gleason and Emily McFall. She is survived by four children Kathleen A. Griswold, Patricia Josephine Kintner (Dan Allard), Suzanne B. Brogdale (Gary), Bernard J. Kintner; nine grandchildren Richard (Kourtney), Daniel (Valerie), Joshua (Rachel) and Jeremiah (Jessica) Griswold, Joseph Grover (Scarlet), Kelby Schuetz, Laura Williams (Seth), Christopher Brogdale, Stacey Brogdale; eight great-grandchildren Keegan, Rowan, Wyatt, Hazel and Joshua Griswold, Zander and Atticus Grover, Sullivan Williams; one brother William Matolka; three sisters Margaret Hoffer, Linda Babcock (Jim), Lorrie Blaha; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine graduated from Union Endicott High School, and later from Broome County Technical Institute. In 2002 she retired from The New York State Workers Compensation Department and volunteered countless hours at the Tri-Cities Opera and the Anderson Center. She also served on the Waterman Conservation Center Board of Directors. Mom's yard was filled with flower gardens and she achieved the rank of Master Gardener.

She had a passion for opera, enjoyed traveling all over the country to visit family, and especially loved the culture of the southwest. She always looked forward to the annual Canadian trip with family, a 65 year tradition. Always dressed to impress, no outfit was complete without an abundant assortment of jewelry, especially turquoise.

Many holiday gatherings were spent in her home. She enjoyed cooking for, and being surrounded by family and friends. When it came to her grandchildren, Gramma Grapes never missed a game or music recital. Above all else, she loved her family unconditionally! She cherished and lived life to the fullest. Mom's spunk and infinite love made her a rare gem and she will be truly missed!

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday September 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 801 Main St. Vestal, NY. Entombment will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..
