Frank “Pip” George, 102, of Endicott, passed away peacefully, Friday January 14, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Vicki George in 2007; his brothers, Jimmy George (Betty), Sam George (Mary); his sister, Lee Gaydorus (Frank); his grandson, David George. He is survived by his children, Frank George (Sheryl), Mick George (Rose), Kris Olevano (Pete), his grandchildren, Frankie George, Michael George, Kelly George, MiRanda George (Mario), Kevin Lee, Kelly Cwikla, Anthony Olevano (Michelle), Michelle Foley (Jim), Christina Olevano (Jason), James Odom(Rose); his great-grandcildren, Veronica, Brittany and Courtney George, Sadeeq Tarry, Micah Olevano, Paul and Sam Cwikla, Mykal Lee; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. He was captured during the invasion of Sicily and became a prisoner of war in Germany where he escaped and was recaptured and escaped again to freedom after a total of 22 months. He is a past NYS Commander of the American Ex-Prisoners of War and a member of the American Legion, Post 1700. He is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott and a retired employee of SUNY Binghamton. Pip enjoyed bowling, golfing, the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees. He also loved fishing with his sons and nephews and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 9:30 AM at Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY and at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY, where a Funeral Mass will be held. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Ex-Prisoners of War Association, PO Box 3445, Arlington, TX 76007-3445.
