Jeanne A. Mayes (Callaghan), born November 1, 1944, passed away on November 7th, 2023, rejoining her husband of 56 years, Joseph Mayes, Mother, Marion Echorst, and sister Shannon Caforio. Jeanne graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1963.
Jeanne lived most of her life in Endicott, NY. She had many jobs over the years, including running a local after-school program for kids. Her most loved job was raising her two sons, for which she received critical acclaim. She lived in Colorado for 18 years and spent her remaining years in Owego, NY.
Jeanne leaves behind her sons Michael and Jeremy, her daughter-in-law Jessica (Perone), her grandchildren, Mark, Joey, Ever, and Marley, and her cherished dog, Banjo.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a creative thinker, voracious reader, and passionate pursuer of social justice. Her natural curiosity was contagious, and she loved to talk about life’s biggest questions.
A viewing will be held at Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Boulevard in Endicott on November 15, 2023 from 5-7PM, with a service at St. Ambrose on Washington Avenue in Endicott on November 16 at 10AM. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Mercy House in Endicott, NY. Jeanne will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City, NY.
