Florence Dutkowsky passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 at the James G. Johnston (JGJ) skilled nursing facility.
She lived 94 years with a very fulfilled life. This includes 54 years on earth with her beloved husband Henry Dutkowsky and the life they built together. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother to her children. Florence was also a cherished aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews in our Polish-American extended family culture and danced a mean polka with Henry. Florence also worked at the Binghamton Savings Bank from 1969-83, beginning as a teller and retiring as branch manager.
Florence loved children, especially babies. She welcomed grandchildren and later great-grandchildren, adding to her titles the iconic Babci. She spent her last years at JGJ, with a staff that consistently provided her with the highest level of professional and compassionate care, for which we are grateful. Florence charmed them, like everyone else, with her teasing sense of humor, quirks, cleverness, and emotional toughness. She will be remembered fondly by many.
Florence is predeceased by her father and mother, Joseph and Mary Gacioch; sisters Josephine (Joseph) Hujar and Marion (Stanley) Lubzanski, brothers Stanley (Mary) Gacioch and Chester (Josephine) Gacioch; husband Henry Dutkowsky; daughter Theresa Goodrich; and daughter-in-law Karen Dutkowsky.
Florence is survived by sons Michael (Jane Poklemba) Dutkowsky, Donald (Suzanne) Dutkowsky, and Joseph Dutkowsky; son-in-law Phil Goodrich; grandchildren Jill Poklemba, Anna (Sam) Dietchweiler, Kendra Dutkowsky, Allison (Austin) Lipari, and Christen (Jan) Bentz; and great-grandchildren Francis and Zelie Marie Zaborowski; Joseph, Anne Rose, Gus, Henry, and Peter Paul Lipari; and Leo and Thomas Bentz.
