Victor Joseph Lorenz

Victor Joseph Lorenz, 89, formerly of Endicott passed away at his daughter and son-in-law’s home in
Murrells Inlet, SC on Thursday, January 11 th , after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years,
Beverly (Eckert) Lorenz, three daughters and their spouses: Karen and Lew Walker of Murrells Inlet, SC;
Debra and Steve Dykun of Orange, CT; and Vicki and Steve Drapp of Lancaster, OH; nine grandchildren –
Greg, Michelle, Corey, Kirsten and Colin Walker; Zachary and Eric Dykun; Emily and Stephanie Drapp;
one great-granddaughter, Audrey Walker; sister-in-laws Muriel Jackson and Marilyn Lasky; brother and
sister-in-law Edward and Patricia Eckert; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and
many friends and neighbors.
Vic was born in Johnson City in 1934, graduated from Binghamton North High School. He served in the
US Army and was honorably discharged. He worked in procurement at IBM Federal Systems Division in
Owego. He and Bev raised their three daughters in Johnson City and in West Corners in Endicott. Vic
was a member of the Quarter Century Club at IBM. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church in Endicott. Unfortunately, a major stroke in 1985 forced Vic into early retirement from IBM. Vic
was an avid golfer and spent many a day on the links. He had two hole in one’s during his golfing days.
In his retirement years he also enjoyed playing pool, putting puzzles together, watching sports on TV
and in person, and visiting his children and grandchildren. He loved watching his favorite teams: NY
Yankees, Syracuse Orange, Buffalo Bills, Clemson football and almost any other sporting team. He also
loved to go out for breakfast during the week and was known by name at his favorite restaurants in the
triple cities. Vic spent his last two years living in Murrells Inlet, SC at the home of his daughter and son-
in-law’s home due to declining health. He enjoyed living at the beach with the sunshine, warmth and no
snow.

There will be a funeral mass at a later date at St. Joseph’s Church in Endicott.
