Mary (Magur) Schleining, 93, formerly of Endwell, passed away on Wednesday January 24th, 2024, at Elizabeth Church Manor. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Magur Sr. and her daughter Patricia. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Herbert, her daughters, Marjorie Schleining of Cooperstown, Karen (Randy) Weeks of Endwell, and Melissa (Ben) Mannino of Cumming, Georgia. She is also survived by her brother George (Marilyn) Magur Jr. of Endwell, her grandchildren, Kyle and Ashley Weeks, Justin (Jessica) Smith, Anthony (Ally) and Christine Mannino, and Rachel (Bryce) Castille, nieces, and nephews Ed (Kristin), Nicolette, and Ann Magur, and many cousins and close friends.
She was born in Czechoslovakia on August 17th, 1930, and settled in Endicott with her parents at the age of 5. She was extremely proud of her heritage and her Orthodox faith, a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Endicott. She and her husband met at the Lowell School of Business in Binghamton. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Jersey shore and Atlantic City, cooking, and baking for which she was well known, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She was known for her artistic talents and created beautiful Easter eggs (pysanky).
A viewing will be held at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, on Monday, January 29th at 10am. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, 1907 Jenkins St. Endicott, NY 13760. The family would like to thank Hilltop, St. Louise Manor and Elizabeth Church Manor for their loving care over the past several years.
