Bruno Colapietro, 89, of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully Friday October 11, 2024, at Lourdes Hospital. He grew up on the North Side of Endicott and was very proud of his Italian heritage. He was predeceased by his immigrant parents, Felice and Vincenza (Ricci) Colapietro; his sisters, Angelina Mastrogiacomo (Alberto) and Lydia Paglia (Pasquale); and cousins John Stacconi and Phil Stacconi, his honorary brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Jane (Larson) Colapietro; three children and ten grandchildren: daughter, Jennifer Stewart (Jonathan) and their children, Angelina Mozier (Andrew), Christian Stewart, Catriona Stewart and Jeffrey Stewart; daughter, Karen Seybold (Eric) and their children, Caroline Priest (Andrew), Matthew Seybold (Leeann), and Lauren Seybold; son, Christopher Colapietro (Karen) and their children, Anthony, Paul and Joseph Colapietro; and his best friend Donald Sukloff.
Bruno graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1953 as Student Government President. He attended Hamilton College, Class of 1957, where he was Captain of the baseball team, and Cornell University Law School, Class of 1960, where he was Managing Editor of the Cornell Law Quarterly. He spent a year working for the US Department of Justice in Washington, D.C, and joined Chernin and Gold law firm in Binghamton where he spent many years as a partner specializing in family law. He very much enjoyed being an Adjunct Professor at both SUNY Binghamton and Cornell Law School, and was a former President of both the Broome County Bar Association and the Endwell Rotary Club. He finished his career Of Counsel with Coughlin & Gerhart and retired at age 85 along with his devoted secretary/paralegal Mary Atkinson who was with him for 40 years.
Bruno had a great sense of humor, loved to tell stories, and was beloved by his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong athlete, and began playing ice hockey when middle-aged. One of his proudest accomplishments was to have played 851 consecutive games in the Rivermede Adult Hockey League, never missing a game from 1988 to 2016.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 19th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 300 Odell Avenue, Endicott, NY. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc.,1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY 13760 on Friday October 18th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
