Richard A. Smith 86 of Johnson City, NY, passed away on Friday October 4, 2024, at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his wife Marie, his daughter-in-law Christine Smith and his parents John G. and Mary (Youarski) Smith. He is survived by his son Michael Smith; his brother John W. Smith (Marge); his aunt Wilma Youarski; his brother-in-law Don Struppler; his nieces and nephews Rebecca Lockett (Vince), Randall Smith (Ann Marie), John R. Smith (Jeannine), Kim Larson, Marie Struppler-Hawk; also, many cousins. Richard’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Lori Dailey for the compassionate assistance and care she provided him. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church Endicott and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a retired Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy with 32 years of service.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 10th at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY at 10:00 AM (Due to the renovation of St. Joseph’s Church). Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY on Wednesday October 9th from 5 to 7 PM.
