Mark Kavanagh Zizzi Age 69 ~ Apalachin, NY
A great many heavy hearts mourn the loss of Mark Kavanagh Zizzi as he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 30, 2024. Mark was the first born son to the late Enrico A. Zizzi and Kathleen M. (Kavanagh) Zizzi. Along with his parents, Mark is predeceased by beloved daughter, Jennifer Kay Zizzi, sister,
Mary Ellen Sprague and her husband, David, and in-laws Dorothy (Dottie) and Frank Lowe. With tails wagging, bestest boys Red, Buck, Barkley and Eli are now reunited with their best friend.
Mark is survived by his wife of 40 years Elaine (Renaldo) Zizzi, adored daughter Emily Zizzi, and grandchildren, Noah and Savannah. He will be sadly missed by his siblings, Jody Zizzi,
Michael Zizzi, Jamie (Pete) Bernard and Angela Zizzi Kuhr; brothers-in-law Kevin(Debbie) Renaldo, Eric (Jennifer) Renaldo and Jeff Kuhr; in-laws Ron and Carol Renaldo. Mark took great
pride in his nieces and nephews, Michael and Samantha Sprague, Adam and Burke Zizzi, Allison and Lori Bernard, Wyatt Kuhr and Austin Renaldo. Mark is also survived by his beloved Aunts,
Uncles and many very special Cousins.
Mark graduated from Vestal High School, Class of 1972. He was a skilled mason, taking immense pride in each brick and stone he laid. Following in his parent's footsteps as musicians, he
naturally became a profoundly talented bass player. He loved playing weekend gigs alongside his close friends in Hurt Locker, and later on, took the stage with his beloved siblings in Hi-Way Fruit Market. His genuine love of the great outdoors led him to become a local legend in the turkey hunting and guiding community. He spent many years during turkey season at Turkey Trot Acres, his home away from home. Mark loved and appreciated nature, especially the beautiful pond he created with his lifelong friend, Ang. He named every bull frog in the pond and claimed he knew who each one was and where they all were just by their sounds. He spent many hours tending to his vegetable gardens in the summer and tapping maple trees in the early spring. He enjoyed summer nights by the campfire with Elaine, Jenny, Emily, grandchildren, and the many friends that he considered family. “Rico” leaves behind lifelong friends, Dave, Romper, Jim, Neut and Pete as well as countless others.
The family extends their gratitude to the medical team and staff at UHS for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of calling hours a grand Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2024 at The Choconut Inn from 1-5 p.m. In Mark's memory, please consider planting a tree and spending time
in nature.
