George Nalepa, 92 of the Town of Maine, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Ideal Skilled Nursing Care, Endicott. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 65 years, Joan Nalepa, his parents Wladyslaw (Walter) and Julia Nalepa, his sister Ann Bivona, and brothers John Nalepa, Casimer Nalepa, Michael Nalepa and Thomas Nalepa. He is survived by his five children, Robert Nalepa (Annie), George Nalepa, Jr., Sher Kariz, Brian Nalepa (Carol), Shawn Nalepa (Maria), his brothers, Steven Nalepa and Leo Nalepa, as well as many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was a Korean War era veteran of the U.S. Army. After his Honorable Discharge, he worked at several jobs before starting his own successful business, Nalepa Well Drilling. He was able to support his family for decades as a well driller before he turned the company over to his son, Brian, who continues that success today. He continued to help Brian, occasionally drilling water wells until he was 80 years old. He enjoyed fishing, camping, stock-car racing, gardening as well as traveling, especially to visit family in Poland. The family would like to thank the staff at Ideal Senior Living Center and Skilled Nursing for their incredible care and loving treatment.
Funeral services will be held Monday July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church 207 Hayes Ave. Endicott, NY 13760. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph’ Church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 W. Main St. #4, Endicott, NY 13760.
