William “Bill”John McFadden, passed away on August 31, 2024 at the age of 82.
Bill was born on August 7, 1942 in Allentown, PA to the late William and Mary McFadden. Bill was the oldest of 4 siblings including Terrence McFadden of Charlotte, NC, Kathleen(William) Stimmel of Allentown, PA, and Patrick (Sheri) McFadden of Jacksonville, FL.
Bill was a huge-hearted Irishman whose work ethic was exceeded only by a fierce capacity for love and loyalty to his family and friends.
Bill met “his girl”, the late Judith Rosalind Rosselli McFadden at Saint Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas. They wed on April 6, 1964. They raised a family of 5 children including 2 sons and 3 daughters:Michael McFadden of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Kelly McFadden of Saint Johns, FL, Terrence (Mary) McFadden of Endwell, NY and Erin (Jim) Gross of San Diego, CA. He was pre-deseased by his daughter Beth-Anne McFadden (Chris) Petersen of Erieville, NY. Bill was a proud grandfather to 6 grandchildren including Nathan, Ava, Samantha, Jimmy, Johnny and Jack.
Bill lived the motto of work hard, play hard. He started working at a young age developing a strong work ethic that he passed along to his children. This helped him pay his way through college where he also played football and basketball. Bill not only played sports, he was a big sports fan with his two favorites being Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football and any Philadelphia team, but mostly the Philadelphia Eagles, never missing a game. He recently told Mike and Erin he just wanted to see one more season of ND football!
An IBM engineer by trade and an accidental contractor by necessity, Bill had a massive talent for approaching the challenges of life with common sense, a skilled hand and a little help from his friends. Despite having no training in the field, he built no less than two homes from the ground up. The first provided a roof and shelter for his wife and five children for a brief time and the second, a cottage which is now infamous in Beaver Lake lore among his closest friends, was his chief place of solace throughout the core of his adult life.
Bill coveted time with his family and friends whether he was attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren, to celebrating his favorite holidays including Christmas and Halloween. Family gatherings were always eventst hat Bill enjoyed. They were filled with love, laughter, music good cheer and of course,
beer. The McFadden household led by Bill was always the place to be for a fun-filled celebration!
Bill was heart-broken after the untimely death of his daughter, Beth-Anne (Betty) in August of 2023, which was quickly followed by the passing of his life-long love, Judy in November, 2023. We are thankful that he now walks again in the heavenly realm with our mother and sister, Beth. You will be missed, Dad!

And to his numerous life-long friends from grade school to college who called to check in on him and cheer him up, especially over the last year including Annette Williams, Karlene Dallaire, Fred & Sharon Schultz, Doug Dryber, Fran & Sally Pine, John Millets and the late Walt Miller.
