Valeri Zemlianko

Valeri Zemlianko , September 8, 1956 - July 06, 2023

Valeri, a loving husband, and father, lost his short battle with brain cancer on July 6th of 2023.

He emigrated from Russia to the US in 1998, so he could provide a brighter future for his wife and children. After the move, he was hired as a carpenter at North East United in Windsor, NY, where he worked until 2019. Valeri did not mind working long hours, so he could provide for his family. He is leaving behind his wife Zoya to whom he was married for 48 years, sons Oleg and Andrei, daughter-in-law Heidi and grandchildren Nickolas and Rebecca, his brothers, Misha, Alexander, and Grigory, sisters Valentina Nadezda and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother Grigory and Vera Zemlianko and sister Vera Muhina.

He loved his family, working with his hands, and fishing. Also enjoyed hanging out in his garage, watching his sons while they were grilling. Furthermore, he loved his wife's cooking and canning various vegetables, and would tell everyone that she could feed an army. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and grew his own tomatoes, cucumbers, and garlic. There were so many more things he wanted to do and try, however, he did not get a chance.

Valeri will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him, both in Russia and the US.

Rest in peace!

Funeral services will be held Thursday July 13th at 12 Noon at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. He had a unique sense of humor and loved to have a good time.  If you knew him you can probably remember his one liners! And he had the best smile!

He will be remembered as a great man and will be missed dearly.

We would like to thank all those who helped take care of him, Vivian, Mary, Wendy, Nicole, Ashley and George. We couldn't have done it without you.

Dominic Richard (Dick) Musa

Dominic Richard (Dick) Musa 90 of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 after spending Easter Sunday with his family the previous day.

Dick was predeceased by his parents Dominick and Anna Musa; his sisters Dorothy Marconi, Florence (Pat) Fiorelli, Phyllis (George) Khoury; his brother Robert; the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Patricia Gallagher and their oldest son, Richard Musa. He is survived by his sons Michael Musa, Mark Musa and Denise Redington, and Patrick (Dan) Musa and his wife Susan; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law George Khoury; his sister-in-law Laura Musa; also several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Dick grew up on the north side of Endicott in a big and loving family. He was a talented swimmer and was approached about swimming at Syracuse University, but he worked to help support his family. He signed up to join the US Army and served during the Korean War. A self taught man, Dick had an understanding of many technical topics including  material science and thermal, mechanical, and electrical engineering. He had an impactful 36-year career at IBM, making valuable contributions at the time of the invention of the computer and the design and launching of the Saturn 5 rocket.  Dick was nothing short of brilliant.

An intelligent and adept man, his focus was always his family. Dick built their family home in Endicott, and together, he and Pat embarked on the adventure of running the historic Oneida Hotel on Sylvan Beach. After selling the hotel, they settled into the ‘Musa cottage’ in Sylvan Beach and that became ‘home away from home’ and a summer retreat for the family. It was, and still remains after 50-plus years, a beloved family gathering place. The cottage is a testament to the sacrifices Dick and Pat made to create a beautiful life and positive upbringing for a family that was everything to them. Dick, again, being a wise man, took a transfer to Boca Raton while still with IBM, so they were able to enjoy summers at the cottage and winters/school year in Florida! Dick considered the beach home and valued the people and relationships developed there. He lit up telling stories of his life, many of them involving the beach. He had an adventurous spirit. He loved to hunt, skate, ski, boat, and fish. He also loved to cook, and he valued time with his extended family.

Dick was an avid reader, and he loved to learn. He read, and reread, about space, the universe, physics, evolution, genetic biology, and the natural world. Coupled with his intellect, he possessed a great ability to use his hands. He had a passion and talent for woodworking, and he created tables, chairs, clocks, tools, and other whimsical creations, often with intricate designs.

He was selfless, dedicated, hard working, talented, skilled, and humble. Never outspoken, he had a deep understanding of many subjects. Dick will be remembered for his intelligence, his kindness, his humor, his loyalty, and his integrity. He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, husband, friend, colleague, neighbor, mentor. He had many accomplishments to be proud of in his life, but the one that may have meant the most was marrying Ms. Endicott Johnson. He and Pat created and enjoyed a beautiful life together and have left an incredible legacy behind them.

A service will be held on Thursday, June 29th, 11am at Calvary Cemetery, Mausoleum 1, Johnson City, NY.

Mom was an original member of Our Lady of Angels Church (now Church of the Holy Family), a place that she served in many capacities throughout the years and found great peace and love. She was an excellent seamstress which resulted in her own personal project of making quilted lap robes for those in hospice care. She made at least 50 of these, but who counts when it is a labor of love.

She loved to travel, including several cross-country trips in the trusty and incredibly organized pop-up camper. Joanne also enjoyed river boat cruises, trips to Europe, and exploring the minor highways in the northeast by car.

Mom and Howard were poetry in motion when dancing and they were involved in several local dance clubs. She was a beautiful woman who simply glowed when they took the floor.

She was devoted to her grandsons, making each one feel loved and special. Her great grandson was the apple of her eye and brought great joy in her last years. She may not have loved technology, but she was adept at sharing pictures on her IPad.

Mom was proud of her extended family and roots in the First Ward of Binghamton. She had many deep relationships with friends and was always ready to lend support to those who suffered the loss of a loved one. Motherhood was her most important role in life and she raised a family with deep and abiding love. And she was an amazing cook!
