Elda Pessagno Pittarelli, a devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the age of 101. She was born in Stamford, CT on October 23, 1920 to the late Luigi and Margherita Granelli.
Elda had a long career at General Electric and retired at the age of 62. She was predeceased by her brother David Granelli, sister-in-law Betty and her daughter Lorena Duke. Elda was widowed at a young age when her husband, Frederick Pessagno unexpectedly passed away in 1967. She was fortunate enough to find love again and was married to Henry Pittarelli until he
passed away in 2002. Elda expressed her unconditional love for her family and friends through her amazing cooking and bringing everyone together. She also enjoyed playing cards and knitting but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Elda leaves behind her children, Claude Pessagno and Marsha Buck, Louis Pessagno and wife Karey. Stepchildren, Jackie Herr and husband Mark, Valerie Paolucci and husband Al. Grandchildren Michael Pessagno, Sean Duke and wife Moon, Colette Montgomery and husband Keith, Tim Buck, Heidi Murphy Clark and husband Rick, Erik Herr and wife Cristin, Catherine Paolucci, Christopher Paolucci and wife Kim. Great-grandchildren Hunter Montgomery, Hannah Duke, Nicole and Matthew Stanley, Jake Murphy and Katelyn, Colin Murphy, Max and Meredith Herr and Logan and Leucas Paolucci. Great-great-grandchildren Maddox, Emma and Kennedy Stanley and Chase Murphy. In addition, she leaves several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Donna Longo and husband Frank, who were extremely special to Elda.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at United Methodist Home, who loved and cared for Elda during her residence. Elda touched many lives in her 101 years and will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday June 20th at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 9:45 AM until time of Mass at 10:30 AM. At Elda's request, we will also be celebrating the life of her daughter Lorena Duke.
