Lucianna (Lucy) Julian

Lucianna (Lucy) Julian, 91 of Endicott, went to be with her lord on Thursday November 17, 2022 at the Willow Point Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Francis; her grandson Lawrence Testani; her parents Theresa and Louis Rotunno; her sisters Antoinette (Joseph) Petruzzelli, Mary (John) Padula. She is survived by three children Richard (Tina) Julian, Ann (Billy) Testani, Rita (Mike) Cawley; three grandchildren Alex Julian, Allison (Michael) Germick, Zach Cawley; one great-grandson Dominick Germick. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, St. Anne’s Society, the Daughters of Columbus Lodge, Sons and Daughters of Italy in America and a retired employee of Endicott Johnson. Lucy loved traveling, holiday gatherings and cooking for family and friends. Special thanks to the staff of Willow Point Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday December 1, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to a charity of one’s own choice.

Sandra K. Barnauskas

Sandra K. Barnauskas, 79 of Endicott, NY, passed away Wednesday November 9, 2022.

She was predeceased by her parents, Irvin (Tug) and Pauline Ovens; her loving husband of 53 years, John Barnauskas, Jr, who passed away on December 27, 2020. She is survived by her son David Barnauskas; her daughter, Larissa Szlucha; her grandchildren Alexander and Gabriela Szlucha.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Endicott and a retired Registered Nurse who started her career at the Scranton State Hospital and Moses Taylor Hospital. After spending 24 years raising her family, she resumed her career at various nursing homes until her retirement. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was deeply dedicated to providing for her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday November 19th at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY with the Rev. Nathaniel Choma, officiating. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Donald Moore

Donald Frank Moore (Donnie), passed away peacefully at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY, on October 29, 2022. He was born in Endicott, NY in 1930 and was the proud son of the late Dr. Frank Moore and Marie H. Moore. He is also predeceased by his brother, Robert J. Moore (Sheila); his sister, Marjorie Doughan; his daughter, Denise M. Moore. Don was a man for all seasons, Football, Basketball, Baseball and Golf. Don was a loyal, generous witty friend who lived a full adventurous life traveling throughout the US to his favorite National Parks and sporting events and was known for his keen knowledge of sports trivia. The tricky blonde guard was captain of his basketball team at Canterbury Prep School in Connecticut in his junior and senior years. In the 1960’s Donnie brought numerous college All American Basketball players to our area for exhibition games. He was involved in bringing Wilt Chamberlain for a game in the old UE pit. His parties at his families cottage at Silver Lake were legendary. He moved to Ft. Lauderdale after attending the Culinary Institute in New Haven, CT. He lived in Florida for 13 years where he worked as a manager for a private club and floating hotel called Marina Bay. He went on to manage one of Ft. Lauderdale's first successful sports bar, The Press Box. He moved back to his hometown to co-own Kelly’s Sports Bar where he found his niche in creating many group gatherings, holiday parties, dinners, football and golf contests. His collection of hats, sports memorabilia and pictures were one of a kind. He had a passion for his beloved Notre Dame Football team throughout his life. He loved the Cooperstown Hall of Fame and was a member from the beginning. He hosted bus trips to Saratoga for over 20 years and also attended the Masters for 20 years as well. He leaves behind his life partner, Carol Dey of Endicott, NY; special nieces and nephews; and a daughter, Debra S. Moore of Columbus, Ohio. He was a champion friend from beginning to end. Brian Mark Vermilya

Brian Mark Vermilya, age 60, passed away peacefully on Monday October 24, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born August 22, 1962 in Johnson City, NY. At age 10 he moved to Holly Hill, Florida, where he grew up and enjoyed playing sports. He was a 1980 Mainland HS graduate. Brian was a member of the F.O.E. Eagles #3800 and a former Holly Hill Eagles member. He worked in the pool service industry where he loved visiting and checking in on all his customers. Brian enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an accomplished musician. He cherished his years performing at local clubs with the Deep South Band.

He is predeceased by his wife, Cheryl and sister, Cindy. He is survived by his parents, Willy and Rosanne Vermilya and Sue Kempf and the late Joe Kempf; his sisters, Kelly McCabe (John), Nicole Schaffer (Todd); his close uncle, Tim Slater; his nieces and nephews, Jessica, Taylor, Jenna, Jillian, and Brock; also many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert "Bob" Babuka

Robert Babuka of Vestal, NY was born on June 8th, 1933 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and passed away at the age of 89 on October 25th, 2022 after battling cancer for many years. The fifth of eight brothers, he is predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine Babuka, and brothers, Bill, John, George, and Edward. He is survived by the love of life and wife of 63 years, Joyce, brothers Michael (Jackie), Peter and Paul Babuka, children Diane (Mike) Haley, Jeanne (Kevin Renauer) Babuka, David Babuka, Susan (Ken Sedlund) Babuka, and 6 grandchildren (Haley, Brian, Terry, Amy, Nicholas and Taylor). 

Robert grew up in Endicott, NY. He completed his education at Broome Community College and was a veteran of the US Army and National Guard. Robert worked at IBM as an Advisory Engineer, receiving many awards and holding several patents by the time of his retirement. After retiring from IBM, he continued to work as a consultant for several start-up companies. Everyone who knew him knew he had a brilliant mind and was a gifted inventor. He was a true “jack of all trades” who could do anything he set his mind to or fix anything that was broken. He had an inspired vision to invent a better way to do everything.

Robert and Joyce met in 1957 at the Pig Stand restaurant and he stole her heart. Both were working at IBM at the time and they were married by 1959. They enjoyed dancing and music. Joyce would sing in perfect key, and Bob — after teaching himself to play guitar and harmonica — would accompany her. Later, they raised their four children in Vestal and created many happy memories along the way. Hunting, fishing, boating and spending time on the water brought great joy to Robert.

Robert built his first home with the help of his brothers and family. Over the years, he kept busy with many creative projects. In the 1950’s he built a fishing boat in the basement of his family home, only to find it wouldn’t fit out of the door. His brothers would never let him forget having to knock down the wall to get it out. In the 1960’s, he built a Piper J3C airplane and thoroughly enjoyed flying it.  He would taxi out of the driveway (taking care not to hit the mailbox) and take off and land in the fields across from their house.  He crafted a canoe from cedar planks and even fashioned his own 1970’s version of an e-bike powered by a car battery. He was skilled at wood carving and enjoyed sketching and painting.

Robert additionally enjoyed golfing, archery, bowling, and hunting. He and Joyce traveled the country in an RV, visiting their children on both coasts.  They spent summers with family and friends on Sandy Pond in Pulaski, NY and many winters in Florida and North Myrtle Beach.

 He never missed the opportunity to make us laugh and most have some fond memory of his antics. He came to dinner one evening with only the right side of his moustache shaved completely off, spoke to each person individually, and patiently waited for anyone to notice, though no one did.

Robert was a truly loving, moral, caring, clever, and exceptional man who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Robert conveyed his feelings for his wife Joyce, saying she was an "angel" and shared the undisputable belief that her loving care added years to his life as well as happiness to each day.

The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Monday, October 31st at noon with a memorial service at 1pm. Immediately following, the family will proceed to St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery for burial.

Edward John “Butch” Vytlacil II (Junior)

Edward was born on August 7, 1942, in Moline, Illinois. He is predeceased by his dear parents, Edward Vytlacil I (Senior) and Madeline Weiss Vytlacil. He was the beloved husband of Juanita Zonio Vytlacil for 53 years, wise and loving father of Dr. Edward Vytlacil III and Rebecca Vytlacil (William Bonney), loving brother of Terry DeLorbe (Bill) and Ted Vytlacil (Paddy), adoring grandfather of Vivian Vytlacil, fond uncle of nieces and nephews Billy DeLorbe, Bryn Vytlacil, Jacqui DeLorbe Condon, Jason Vytlacil, John DeLorbe, and Melli Vytlacil. He enjoyed the very good friendship of Frank DeMara.

He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, 1964), and Binghamton University (Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, 1978). He worked as a senior engineer/manager and was a proud IBMer for 38 years. After retiring from IBM, he worked as a patent agent. Edward was an avid reader with an unsurpassed intellectual curiosity. He was a gifted storyteller known for his wit, great sense of humor, and love of debate. Family vacations at the beach and reading to his granddaughter were among the many things he enjoyed throughout life. 

Special thanks to Dr. Shari Nichols, Dr. Timothy Howland, and Dr. Charles Campbell who all demonstrated the ideal of a doctor’s care for Edward. Special thanks to Dr. Jung Oh who gave Edward’s family a few more days with him before he shuffled off this mortal coil. 

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday October 31st at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. The family will receive friends at St. Anthony's Church on Monday from 10 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM.

Paula A. (Chapman) Luna

Paula A. (Chapman) Luna of Endicott, NY, passed away
on Sunday, October 23, 2022 in the comfort of her own
home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Paula was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and
aunt who lived for her family and would have done
anything for them.

She grew up in Endicott and attended local schools.
When she was in her 20’s Paula moved to Lake Tahoe, CA where she lived and worked for several years. There she met and married her husband Alan Luna, started her
family, returning to Endicott because she wanted her
children to know her large family who she loved and
was dedicated to.

Paula worked for the Union-Endicott CSD for 21 years
where she touched many lives as an educator, colleague
and friend. She also worked in the service industry
where all were welcomed with her beautiful smile,
sense of humor and stellar blue eyes. Her impact was
felt in more ways than she knew, wherever she was, and
will be dearly missed by all.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, Paul and
Barbara Chapman; her sister, Nancy Mastrogiovanni;
her brother, John Chapman; and her brother-in-law,
Mike Vavra. She is survived by her loving husband of
33 years, Alan; her beloved children who were the
world to her, A.J. and Alyssa; six siblings, Mark
Chapman (Cheryl), Bob Chapman (Shirley), Steve
Chapman, David Chapman, Maureen Vavra, Jim
Chapman (Katy); her brother-in-law, Thomas
Mastrogiovanni; uncle Paul Musa (Pat); uncle Gary
Musa who was like a brother to her; several cousins,
and many nieces and nephews that were also like her
children. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Martha Luna; father-in-law, Cris Luna (Marta); her 3 brother-in-laws, Daniel Luna (Edna), David Luna (Sharon), and Joel Luna (Ruth); and her sister-in-law, Anita Hall (Steve).

Richard Musa

Richard Musa, 64 of Endicott, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2022.

He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia (Gallagher) Musa. He is survived by his father, Richard D. Musa; two daughters, Kellie Musa (Mike) and her children, Briella and Dah's best buddy, Micah Musa; Nicole Schrader (Eric) and their family; three brothers, Michael, Mark and Dan Musa; his girlfriend, Jennifer Gregory.

Richard (Rick) was a generous man and a friend to many. He lived life on his own terms and enjoyed his 64 years here on earth. Rick was a skilled outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He found peace in the woods and cherished the memories of his hunting trips to Alaska and Kansas. He enjoyed many sunsets in his boat at Sylvan beach with his girlfriend Jennifer. Rick had a special bond with his daughter Kellie. They loved drinking their morning coffee together and were inseparable. Kellie and Rick were more than father-daughter, they were best friends. Rick was known as “DAH” to his “best buddy” and grandson, Micah. They loved riding the 4 wheeler through the woods but most of all, they just loved being together. His absence will forever be felt.

Cynthia M. Fiorini

Cynthia M. Fiorini, 59 of Endicott, NY, passed away at Mercy House of the Southern Tier on Sunday October 23, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Michael and Rose Fragola and Frank and Rita Puchyr; and her in-laws, Peter, Sr. and Ruth Fiorini. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Peter Fiorini, Jr.; her children, Stephanie Loke (Geoff), Jason Fiorini and April Fiorini; “Nany’s” precious grandchildren whom she cherished; Gabriella and Gianna; her parents, Giacomo and Joan Fragola; her sister, Maria Fragola; her brothers, Jeff Fragola, Jamie Fragola (Krista) and Dan Fragola (Cathy); and her recently found biological in-laws; including her mother-in-law, Evelina Finelli; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark Rifenbury (Rachel), Pamela Pasquale (Tom), Jeff Rifenbury, Christina Rieselman (Chad); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cindy also had numerous close friends whom she considered to be her additional family.

She was a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell and a member of the Daughters of Columbus Lodge, Endicott, NY Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. She was a Commercial Branch Manager Vice President at M&T Bank with 36 years of service. Cindy had incredible strength, facing each day with a huge smile and a positive attitude. This was especially evident during her long 7 year battle. Cindy lived everyday to its fullest and was always there to help or care for others. She loved spending time with family and friends, often hosting parties and get togethers. She loved to cook and bake, especially cookies. Her other love was riding her Harley with her husband Pete and their close group of friends, whenever they had the opportunity.

Cindy’s family extends a special thank you to the Oncology Nurses at Lourdes Hospital, the nurses, aides and staff of Mercy House of the Southern Tier, Fr. Clarence Rumble and Sr. Anisia for their compassionate and loving care.

Kenneth J. Chase, 69 of Endwell, NY, passed away October 1, 2022.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bertha Sparks and George Chase. He is survived by his wife, Ann Chase; his daughter, Joleen Loos (Chris Loos); his son, Kenneth Chase, Jr.; his daughters, Bethann and Katherine Chase, Darline Stoddard (Rod); eight grandkids, eight great-grandkids.

He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandkids and pets.

Eleanor Dolores (Battaglini) Convertino

Eleanor Dolores (Battaglini) Convertino, 95, of Endicott, NY and summer resident of Forest Lake, PA, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, October 21, 2022. 

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph; her parents, Lena M. (Dellapenta) and Sylvester Sam Battaglini; 3 brothers, Albert, Bernard and Donald Battaglini and 3 sisters, Virginia Zandy, Annette Sementelli and Edith Christina.  She is survived by her son, Bernard Convertino; daughters Candace (John) Roscoe, Karen (Joseph) Gance and Dominica (Eric) Wolfe.  She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Alexandra and Lea Gance, Natasha, Zachary and Claudia Wolfe, John (Renee) Roscoe, William (Lisa) Roscoe; 5 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Ethan, Olivia, and Alayna Roscoe as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and the true matriarch of her family.  She was an excellent cook who welcomed many into her purple kitchen. “Elle” was a classy woman with great taste, strong opinions, and had endless love for her family and the NY Giants.  A special thanks to her daughter, Karen, who made it possible for mom to be happily living in her home.  

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday October 27th at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 300 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. There will be no calling hours.

Angelo F. Cicciarelli

Angelo F. Cicciarelli, 85 of Endicott, NY, passed away on October 15, 2022.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Peg (Pitts) Cicciarelli; his parents, David and Carmella Brown; his brothers, Stephen and David Brown. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Cicciarelli; three daughters, Lori (Jim) Cadden, Lynn Cicciarelli, Annie Cicciarelli; six grandchildren, (who affectionately referred to him as Grandpa Frank), Samantha, Nicole, Patrick, Alexandra, Louis and Angelo; many great-grandchildren and two more on the way; his sister, Patricia (Larry) Stroup; also many nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a retired employee of General Electric, Johnson City, NY. He was a man with many hobbies including picture painting, carpentry, wine making and renovating player pianos. He was a self-taught Banjo player, an avid golfer and enjoyed spending Winters in Florida, Camping, The Endicott Public Library and spending time with family and friends.

Traci Jeanette Ayers

Traci Jeanette Ayers (4/23/78- 10/7/22) left this world, before we wanted to let her go, to join her beloved Mother (Susan Ayers) and brother (Matthew Ayers) who were there holding her hand and welcomed her with open arms. She is heartbroken to leave her doting father Harlan Ayers behind as well as several aunts, uncles and friends.  How do you sum up someone like Traci in words? No one can, it is not possible. Her love for everyone was more than we can describe.  

Traci had a way about her that is nearly impossible to capture in words. Words, music, and poems were Traci’s medium. Traci could articulate feelings, caring, and emotion in an indescribable way that we all wished we could. Traci got people. 

Traci and her family were dealt a crappy card when they lost her best friend and brother Matt at a too early age. This loss was immeasurable, but the collective love this family had for each other, and those who loved the Ayers family, attempted to lighten the load, and persevere. 

Traci was a friend like no other. She knew how to make those around her feel better, to lift them up, to make them their best selves. Traci never judged anyone, she truly gave her heart and soul to her friends and family. Even though her day-to-day life was painful and grueling, she never forgot an important moment, ever. Traci innately knew how to help her friends when they may or may not have known they needed it. Traci loved to read, write, and listen to music. Those were her three truths. Traci captured her life and the lives of her friends and family. Traci remembered everything; she was the yearbook of everyone’s lives. Her ability to articulate feelings and her sense of humor and infectious laugh were unmatched. Traci gave her whole heart and soul to those she loved both human and cat. Her love for Muffin, Bella, and Theo was epic, they brought such joy to her days. She was a true cat mama, and they loved and adored her right back. 

Earth cries and heaven smiles. We will never be the same with the loss of Traci, but she is now without pain and that brings those who knew and loved her some comfort as we grieve this loss. Traci, we love you and we will do our best to honor your memory and care about friends and family the way you did.

Josephine DiLorenzo, 93

Josephine DiLorenzo, 93, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 9th.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Anthony, their son Mark, and her brother Charles Tarricone.

Her survivors include son Benedict (Victoria) of Buffalo, NY; daughter JoAnne (James Randall) of Endicott, NY; daughter-in-law Renee of Wake Forest, NC; and son John (Patricia) of Suffern, NY.

Once her grandchildren were born, she was affectionately called “Grammy” and leaves behind her grandchildren Jessica (Patrick Warner) and Katie (Chris Borne), Maia and Anthony, Mark and Corey, Giancarlo and Nicoletta DiLorenzo, and a great granddaughter, Brianna Borne, whom she had hoped to meet.

Josephine worked as a cosmetologist in her father’s beauty shop, retiring early to raise her family. She was an incredible cook and baker and steadfast in her Italian traditions. We are grateful to have had her for almost 94 years.

Josephine was a talented pianist with a beautiful soprano voice. She performed with the Tri-Cities Opera, Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus, St. Ambrose Choir, and other local musical ensembles and groups.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at 12:30 pm at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, NY. Entombment will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home, Friday from 11:30 am until time of Funeral Services at 12:30 pm. Dorothy (Musa) Marconi

Dorothy (Musa) Marconi, 98 of Endwell, NY, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 6, 2022.

Dorothy lived a full vibrant life and is survived by her four beloved children, JoAnn Bakke, Linda (Dan) Phillips, Christine (Mike) Doyle, and Mark Marconi. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Dan, Molly, Colleen, Breanna, Wesley, Rebekah, Phil and Tim; also her greatest joy was her great-grandbabies, Christian, Rylee, Coltan, Caiden, Brody, Mason, Michael, Lilly, Joshua, Cassie, Maura, Arya, Leo, Meredith, Silas and Jeremia. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis; brother, Dick; sister-in-law, Laura; two precious nieces, Arlene Powell and Renee Luba; special cousin, Val Hogan. Dorothy was predeceased by her granddaughter, Hollie; her sister, Florence; her brother, Bob; her sister-in-law, Pat; her brother-in-law, Patrick; her best friend and lifelong companion, Walter Yankowski.
Dorothy had an unending zest for life, a positive attitude and a deep faith in God. She served as a Deacon in the church and did countless acts of kindness and generosity during her 98 years. She was a truly loving mother, loyal friend and had a heart to give to others unsurpassed by most. She was strong and had a great sense of humor. Dorothy had a gift for hospitality and through the years hosted many many family gatherings at her home. She had a reputation for being an amazing cook and baker. Dorothy did love clothes and she could be considered a fashionista! (the jewelry matched the purse that matched the shoes…..you get the picture!) “Shop till you drop” describes her appetite for shopping and yet, she gave unselfishly to others, probably more than she kept for herself. She leaves behind a legacy of true love, generosity and a deep devotion to God.

The family will always be indebted to her wonderful aids, Jess, Rylee, Rochelle, Chris, Jean and Andrea. May God bless you. Much gratitude goes to the compassionate staff at Lourdes Hospital Emergency Room, with special thanks going to Dorothy’s male nurse, Scott. Truly God’s presence was felt at Lourdes Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Triumphant Life Church (formerly Christ the King Church) 1511 Davis Ave. Endwell, NY, on Saturday October 15th at 11 AM with calling hours starting at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers for Dorothy, the family requests that you do an act of kindness…..give a smile, call someone that’s ill, take the trash out for an elderly neighbor, volunteer at a soup kitchen….the list goes on…this is what Dorothy would want…And may God Bless you as you Bless others.

Donald Jester

Donald Jester, 87, of Endicott, N.Y. passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, N.Y.

He was born August 28, 1935 in Oneonta, N.Y. the son of the late Edgar Frederic and Clive Jester. Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dolores Jester; four children, Jonathan his spouse Sophia, Jane (Broglio), Brian, Kevin, his granddaughter Lily Broglio; sisters and brothers, Nancy and Bill Rasmussen, Betsy Squaires, Richard and Joan Jester, Rodney and Evelyn Jester, two sisters-in-law, Edith Jester, Nancy Jester and one brother-in-law, George Wetmore. He was predeceased by three sisters, Sally Jester, Eunice Bush, and Beverly Wetmore and three brothers Bruce, Warren, and Wayne Jester. He also had several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelors of Art degree in Education, he spent 35 years as a high school educator, guidance counselor and athletic coach. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, deer hunting, watching his children's sporting events, Tuesday card games, going to Binghamton University athletic events with Bernie, Tom and Bud, officiating basketball with Board 49, running road races and numerous marathons but most of all spending time with his granddaughter Lily whom he loved so dearly.

Don was especially proud of his Oneonta, N.Y 'roots' graduating from Oneonta High School and SUNY Oneonta as an accomplished Hall of Famer at both institutions. In 2003, he was inducted into the SUNY Oneonta Hall of Fame as a multi-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball and baseball eclipsing 1,000 points in basketball and had a 15-1 career record as a pitcher in baseball. He continued his baseball career at the semi-pro level with the Milford Macs. In 2009, he was inducted into the Oneonta High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the Dr.'s, nurses, and staff at Wilson Hospital for their wonderful care that they gave to Don.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date; in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bruce Jester Scholarship Fund, OHS Alumni Association, PO Box 604, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Dorothy A. Humphrey

Dorothy A. Humphrey, 85, of East Syracuse, formerly of Binghamton, passed away Friday September 23, on the same day as the 61st anniversary of her marriage to her beloved and departed husband Jack, joining him in eternity.

She is lovingly survived by her son Todd, daughter-in-law Kristina, granddaughter Emily, and sister Ann. She is also remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

The youngest of nine siblings, Dottie grew up in the First Ward of Binghamton during the Great Depression and WWIl era, attending Daniel S. Dickinson and Binghamton Central High Schools, where she met people with whom she would remain close friends for 70 years. After working in the retail, home decorating, and insurance trades, she dedicated her life to her family and home. Her many interests included reading, holiday decorating and entertaining, writing long letters, cool autumn days, gardening, watching the Tour de France, jazz and music standards from the Great American Songbook. She was known for having a wicked sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling, especially to casino towns, taking many journeys to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with family, friends, and tour groups. Her greatest joy was being "Dancing Grandma," spending time with "my Emily."

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1:00 PM at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY 13760 with the Very Rev. Nathaniel Choma, officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.

Bernita “Bernie” Cavanaugh

Bernita “Bernie” Cavanaugh, 79 of Endicott passed away September 10, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a courageous battle of reoccurring throat cancer.

Bernie was born July 5, 1943, to Michael Honnick and Esther Maciolek Bickham. She graduated from Union Endicott High School. Bernie worked for IBM Endicott in the chemical department for 10 years, Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls, MN, and Wegmans in Johnson City, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Michael R. Honnick, her beloved pet Sweet Pea, also many aunts and uncles and her care giver Aaron Newbie. She is survived by her Aunt Marge Maciolek, Uncle John Sents, Sons Robert J. Drum, Joseph R. Drum (Pamela), Gerald S. Drum; grand daughters Alyssa Drum and Mackenzie Drum; daughter-in-law, Loan Drum, Cousin Pam Grant (Roger Doane), her beloved cat Stretch, dear friends Paul Boyd, Donna Dealey Menzes, Linda & Ed Prince, Linda & Frank Urso, John & Nancy Thorp, Marie Jackson, Julia Williams, Nancy Webb, Connie, Bill & Debbie Allen, Edie Farr, Normie Vinson, and many more to mention who sent cards and prayers.

Bernie loved birding, gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She loved to give crocheted items that she made as gifts for family, friends and caregivers. Joe and Pam would like to thank Lourdes Home Health Care, Sarah Cote, Michelle (her aide) and Judy for their exceptional care they provided while Bernie was with us at home. Also, Broome Oncology, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Med 1 Ross Deb, Todd, Techs Aaron and Krystal, Nurses Brooke, Bridget, Joy, Grace, Carrie Ann, Rebecca, Dawn, Jackie, Brooke, Haley, Ysabel, Alicia, Megan and Brooke, also Dr. Jesse Ryan and his team, Dr. Jonathan Kloss, Dr. Marhaba, Dr. Jung Oh and his assistant NP, Dr. Varsous, Dr. Awad and nurses, Brooke and Bridget. Bernie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She had a strong will to survive. Bernie was a loving and caring person who had a spit fire personality.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 701 W. Main St. Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Sharon Barbara Roberts

Sharon Barbara Roberts of Endicott, NY, our beloved “Auntie”, died on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the age of 86.

She was predeceased by her grandmother, Verna “Nana” Duffy; her parents, Sidney and Margaret Roberts; her nephew, Monti Lee Roberts; her cousins, Phala Harper, Betty Harper, and Gene Cannava; and many companion animal friends that she loved over the years. She is survived by her siblings, Bernie (Marilyn) Roberts of Jacksonville, FL, and Lynne (Edward) Dzupinka of Endicott, NY, her nieces and nephews, Rick (Cathy) Roberts, Charles Roberts, Sharon (Brian) Smith, Tricia (Doug) Lynn, Jennifer (Paul) Martin, and Christopher Roberts; her grandnieces and grandnephews, Dawn (John - Kinsley, Brady) Wiggins, Benjamin Smith, Samuel Smith, Bryce Lynn, and Karly Lynn; her cousins, Karl Davis, Leslie (Rick) Jenks, Rachael (Jason – Haley, Cooper, Tucker) Smith, Joshua (Faith – Eliana, Chelsey, Ashley) Jenks, and Jordan (Brianne – Savannah) Jenks.

Sharon was born in Taylor, PA. Her family moved to Endicott, NY in 1945. She graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1953. In her professional career she worked in bookkeeping, banking, and tax preparing, before finding her true calling as a nurse – graduating from Broome Community College at the age of 59. Her many years with her work family at Dr. Blom’s office in Binghamton inspired her to pursue this path. She always said that her years in nursing at General Hospital were the most professionally fulfilling of her life. She retired from nursing at the age of 76. 

In her leisure time she loved travelling – to New York City for shopping and theater, up and down the East Coast from Maine to Florida to visit family and friends, and twice to her ancestral homeland of England and Wales. She was an avid fan of baseball and hockey, always cheering for her teams, the Yankees and Rangers. However what brought her the most joy in life was her family. Her limitless generosity will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. We will miss her wisdom, her wit, her many stories of our family’s history, and the taste of her delicious Welsh cookies hot off the griddle.

In honor of her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial gathering was held. If you wish to make a donation in remembrance of Sharon, please consider The Broome County Dog Shelter, 110 Cutler Pond Rd. Binghamton, NY 13905.

Angelina M. Roach

Our Mother, Angelina M. Roach, 93, played her final round of golf on August 25, 2022.  She passed peacefully with a smile, with her daughter Ann-Marie and granddaughter Elise gently holding her hands.   She has transitioned from Earth to Heaven to be with her beloved husband, The Honorable Camille M. Roach, beloved granddaughter Fallon Nicole Roach, and many dear family and friends who passed before.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Phil) May, Tony (Cathy) Roach, Paul (Michele) Roach, Ann-Marie Roach, Fran Roach, and Rania Roach; her grandchildren, Elise, Kristina, Kelsey, Heidi, and Francis Camille, and great grandchildren; Lucian, Dejanel, Audric, and her beloved loyal doggie, Millie. 

Angelina was born on July 20, 1929 in Binghamton, the daughter of Anthony and Antoinette Castelli.  Throughout her life she was known by many loving names; Angelina, Angie, Mrs. Roach, Mom, Tita, Mimi, and Grandma.  She greatly loved, and was loved by her family; the best Mom we could ever have.  Everyone in the neighborhood knew the sound of her famous whistle, calling the kids in from play – It could be heard all the way to Mersereau Park!

Strong in her faith, she would always say goodbye with a “God Bless You Abundantly!” She carried her love of God into everything she did, be it golf, cooking, painting, singing in a Bereavement Choir and most of all, her family.  She will be missed forever by all who knew her.  Special thanks to Leon Pucedo Funeral home for their arrangements. 

Her Calling Hours and Funeral will be at St. Ambrose Church in Endicott, on Friday September 16th, 2022. Beginning at 10:00a.m with the funeral mass following at 11:00.a.m.
